Self-Reflection
When I first began this project, I was a bit overwhelmed. I am generally not the most talented when it comes to creating websites, or doing anything online for that matter; needless to say, I wasn't too happy! However, after many hours of figuring it all out, I think I have done a very good job. After looking at the rubric and reading the requirements, I feel that I have covered everything necessarily, and more too!
I was very pleased with my Black Death Essay. I feel that I went above and beyond and covered so much information within it. In addition, I separated the essay up with different sections, and I put suggested reading at the end in case the reader wanted to read more. I also am very proud of my diary entry because I really tried to go out of the box with my creativity and think of something different than what I would normally do.
As stated before, I was very frustrated when I found out that I had to create a website. I am not very good with technology, and putting pictures on the website was another struggle for me. However, weebly made it fairly simple to upload all of my pictures so my viewers could visualize everything that I was explaining in words throughout my website.
In addition, I used my class time very well and this helped me a lot because it saved me a lot of time out of school. Because I was able to focus in class, I did not have to spend quite as much time on this project at home. Also, I was able to get a lot of my questions answered during this class time. While researching, I discovered, what I thought to be, a really fun fact. "Ring around the Rosy," a common childhood song that I used to sing, is actually sung directly about the black death. This was very surprising to me, and it was the most interesting thing that I found. (You can read all about the history of the song on another page of this site).
I used lots of different sources for this website, so I do not feel that one source was better than the other. Although, not only did I have to research information for this project, I also had to learn how to make a website. In my opinion, making the website was harder than writing the paper because it is outside of my comfort zone. Now that I have learned to create this website, I feel that I can use my paper-writing and website-making skills in college.
