MULTI-GENRE NOTES PAGE
Picture Collage |
The first multi-genre artifact I chose was a picture collage. It is a visual display that shows the path of the plague, horrific pictures during the plague, as well as some artwork that was drawn during the plague. I chose this artifact for several reasons. I can tell write papers, and tell you about the black death, but I feel that until you visually see the effects and proof of the plague, it is hard to see the degree of horror. I hope that by looking at these pictures, you can see the agony, pain, and suffering that those affected by the plague experienced.

Timeline |
The second multi-genre artifact that I chose was a timeline. A timeline is an informational way of displaying the events of the black death. I clearly stated the year that an event happened, and gave a brief description of the event. I tried to make the descriptions short and to the point so that it was easy to gather what was happening during that year. I feel that time is often considered a subjective experience; some believe it goes on forever while others believe it passes quickly. By structuring my artifact as a timeline, I feel that it provides a sense of stability with time. In addition, I hope that people can look at the timeline and see the visual art of storytelling through it.

Diary Entry |
In my opinion, the more personal you make something, the more someone can relate. For my third multi-genre artifact, I chose to write a diary entry. This diary reflects someones diary that was living through the black death. It shows a first hand experience of a situation that someone would have experienced on a daily basis. I hope that when the reader is reading this entry, they will be able to relate with the writer and owner of the journal. By reading the first hand experience, I am hoping that the reader will be able to see and maybe even feel how tragic, hurtful, and real the pain was from this horrible experience.

History of song "Ring around the Rosy" |
The forth and final multi-genre artifact that I chose was to write about the history of the common childrens song "Ring around the Rosy." This artifact falls into group number two which is a visual with words. The visual is a big picture of children singing this common song, and they are holding hands going in a circle just as children have done for years. I feel that this was a good artifact because not many people know that this song is being sung about the black death. It educates others, and they will now know the true meaning behind the common childhood song.
